    This movie club is intended to allow adults to discuss movies. They meet every other month, and everyone is welcome. This month, the group will discuss Nomadland. This is a hybrid program. You can attend in person at Oakdale Library or join us virtually via Zoom. Registration is required. When registering, you will be asked to specify how you plan to attend the program. A link with instructions to join the event virtually will be emailed after registration. Copies of the movie are available on DVD at Oakdale Library. Just watch the movie and discuss.   9. Gyotaku Fish Printing

    ‘Gyotaku’ is a Japanese folk art form of painting and printing with real fish. The first gyotaku were created to preserve the true record and size of species caught by Japanese anglers. In this program at Hardwood Creek Library, students will learn how to print these fascinating fish images using rubber casts of real fish and other creatures. We will then use watercolor and/or other mediums to add accents and details to our prints. This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

  12. Virtual Reality Gaming

    Come play the Oculus Quest VR at Park Grove Library. You can choose from up to 23 VR games including the popular Beat Saber, Superhot, and Job Simulator. As you wait for your time slot with the VR, the Nintendo Wii U will be out for open play from 3 to 4:30 p.m. For ages 8-18. A participant waiver is required for VR. Important! Minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver before they can play. Waivers will be available at the event to sign or you can stop by the library earlier to sign at the information desk.

  13. Speech and Debate Workshop

    Join R.H. Stafford Library for a six-week speech and debate course for students in grades 5-8 with Lightwave Learning. In this engaging course, students will step into the shoes of lawmakers, politicians, and advocates as they delve into public speaking and debate. Through the program, they will be introduced to skills in critical thinking, persuasive argumentation, and effective rhetoric through hands-on activities, including speaking drills, interactive games, and mini-debates. Early engagement in this competitive activity fosters vital skills for future leaders. This event is for students in grades 5-8. Registration is required. Participants should attend all six classes (January 23, January 30, February 6, February 13, February 20, and February 27). This library event is an adult-free event, excluding library staff and partners.
