Park Grove Library will have featured events in August

Park Grove Library in Cottage Grove will have featured events in August.

The library is at 7900 Hemingway Ave. S. in Cottage Grove; the telephone number is 651-459-2040.

Free Kid's Lunch, 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3: Park Grove Library is offering cold lunch every Wednesday afternoon in partnership with Youthprise and the After School Snack Program. All children aged 0-18 are eligible. Lunch is served and must be eaten on site.

Contraption Club, 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4: Learn how to use new technology to make almost anything. Participants will have access to 3D printing, laser cutting, coding robots, soldering, Cricut cutting machines, computerized embroidery, and more. For ages 9-12. This workshop is funded in part with a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education. Registration is not required.

Conversation Circles, 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4: Non-native English speakers, join us for tea and conversation at Park Grove Library. Practice your English, make new friends, and learn about all the library has to offer. Registration is not required.

S is for Snake, 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4: From their forked tongues and sharp teeth to their strong coils and smooth scales, snakes are amazing creatures. Join a naturalist from Dodge Nature Center to meet some live snakes and better understand these animals. Registration is required. Starting Your Writing Life at 55+, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16: Join a professional writing class with a LOFT instructor. With creative writing prompts and exercises, learn simple tips for starting, and staying with, your writing project. This class is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Let's Make Stuff: Natural Dyes, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17:  Tannins is a natural acid found in plants all over the world that is commonly used to dye cloth. Try your hand at dying your own bandana and watch your cloth turn from beige to a beautiful gray. This program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
