Training Description

Let’s talk about sex! Historically, people with disabilities have been denied, or thought to not be interested in, the same level of intimacy and romantic relationships as people without disabilities. In turn, many people with disabilities were denied information about sexuality as a way to protect them. However, these practices may actually have increased the likelihood of being abused or exploited. While it is natural to have concerns and worry about the people we support, every human wants and needs some level of connection with others. Please join us to learn how you can foster an open environment for discussions on relationships and intimacy for the people you support. We will review rights under HCBS provider settings and share resources.

Jennifer Billington, STAR Services.

Jen has been supporting people for over 30 years. As the Person-Centered Services Director at STAR Services, she completes formal planning using MAPS, PATH, Liberty Plan, and Charting the LifeCourse through STAR Services. Jen educates people receiving services, their families, guardians, case managers, and DSPs on what is important to and important for each person and empowering people to find a balance between the two.
