The Accounting and Finance Department provides a number of financial documents and reports regarding the county's financial standing. They include:
ACFR, or Annual Comprehensive Financial Report - This annual report provides Washington County residents and other members of the public a comprehensive and thorough review of the financial health of the county. It outlines the county's financial and operational state, as well as the year-end financial position of its assets and liabilities during a given year.
PAFR, or Popular Annual Financial Report - This annual report provides Washington County residents and other members of the public a condensed and simplified review of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. This report is designed to be both readily accessible and easy to understand by those who do not have a background in public finance or accounting.
GFOA Triple Crown - Local governments recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for achieving Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The above two reports and the county’s budget report have consistently received annual awards from GFOA, and, combined, have earned Washington County the GFOA Triple Crown.
