Natural Resources Planning
Development of a Natural Resource Protection and Stewardship System Framework for Washington County
Washington County’s Comprehensive Plan calls for comprehensive strategic natural areas protection and stewardship to assure community needs are being met and the county well positioned for future opportunities and challenges. A planning process is being co-led by Washington Conservation District and Washington County and a draft plan is underway.
Project Planning
The initial process, structure, roles, and responsibilities for the effort were articulated and presented to the County Board and Washington Conservation District Board in February 2018. The Washington County Parks and Open Space Commission is serving as the Stakeholder Committee and a Technical Advisory Committee was established and met four times between 2018 and 2020.
